I am Steven Govan, recognized in the event industry as DJ Groove. Originating from Charlotte, North Carolina, I was raised in the serene countryside of Harrisburg, NC. My early exposure to music in the Baptist church, where gospel music was paramount, cultivated a lasting passion. Serving as a drummer in our church fueled my fascination with the emotions evoked by music.

High school brought more musical adventures as I joined the marching band, rocking the saxophone and Tuba. The Central Cabarrus Marching Vikings from Concord, NC, gave me a taste of national success.

Fast forward to 2008, and my DJ career kicked off as a part-time gig. My debut event was a wedding at Pine Lakes Country Club in Mint Hill, NC. The moment I hit play on the pre-ceremonial music, I knew this was my passion. What started as a side hustle turned into a career blessing me with gigs in North and South Carolina and even as far as Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Additionally, I have had the honor of entertaining at corporate functions for NASCAR Champions Hendrick Motorsports.

Every event is a journey starting with soaking in the client's desires. I'm a firm believer that success lies in the details — from top-notch customer service, crafting my client's vision, to reading the room like a DJ wizard.
